[SOLVED] After initconfig...

Featured Replies

I ran the steps today to remove three empty 2tb disks.

1) I stopped the array

2) Unassigned disks 10, 11, and 13

3) Shut down

4) Removed the disks and put dummy trays in their place

5) Rebooted

6) Telnet into server, typed initconfig, typed Yes

7) Parity check just completed

and this is what I see:

Can I reassign disk12 to disk 10's position, and then will disk11 go away?

Just do another initconfig, but this time unassign Disk12 and assign Disk10 to that disk.

Why did you leave the empty slots in the config when you did the new config before??

BTW, you COULD do a "trust parity" when you start the array -- but I'd let it do a new parity sync just to be sure.

The Wiki guide didn't mention anything about empty slots, so I just pushed on.

I ran initconfig again, and the parity check is in progress. Thanks.
