The plugins on the plugin page are not officially supported or checked in anyway by Limetech. It is just what is in the wiki plugin page, which is often not up to date.

Its a side effect of you using an RC version of unRAID with a beta webGUI plugin thats using an open wiki backend.

Things will sort themselves out in the end but until then these are the gotchas we have to accept

while we are on the subject, is there a new SNAP plug in in the works or something that would replace it?

I'm working on reviving snap.  I have it working on 5.0 and should have it ready soon.

You can still use it in the shell.

Only the gui is not working properly.

and it doesnt follow v5 folder structure.

I would recommend not using SNAP. Much the same can be achieved by udev.

this will be interesting especially if it can be extended to work better

Sure, if you're familiar with udev...I had to google it  ??? .

SNAP comes with a short set of instructions which is really helpful for linux noobs like me.

The only thing I had to look up was the fuser command to be able to unmount

the drive after I finished copying.

Oh for sure dont get me wrong IMHO SNAP was the second most useful addon ever conceived. I have been making a case to have to functionality brought into core OS for a long time as this is where it should belong.

unRAID is one of the few NAS's out there that simply cant handle plugging in stuff and it just working in some way. I would like to see unRAID be one of the best at this not one of the worst.

udev for me helped as it allowed me to create a mountpoint based on the USB<>SATA rack slot. This means if i plug in a disk to slot 1 it shows up as /dev/usbslot1 and after some faffing is auto mounted /mnt/usbslot1.

The approach of SNAP where you had to teach is about every single disk before it would work for me at least was the wrong one.

V5 folder structure and package requirements compliant?
