August 19, 201312 yr Just set up my new unRaid server and am in the process of migrating all of my data from my old WHS sever. I am using TeraCopy on WHS to transfer over all the data and verify it once the transfer is complete. The transfer completed last night in the middle of the night and the verification process is currently on going. I have been keeping an eye on the disk temperatures on the unRaid webGUI, the two data disks that I have take it in turns spinning up and down dependent on the data being read the parity drive always seems to be spinning however. I expect it to be spinning when I am writing to a drive, but should be be spinning if I am just reading from a drive?
August 19, 201312 yr If they are in the same host group (controller) that could be causing it to spin up. post your syslog.
