USB flash drive showing up as fixed disk

Featured Replies

I have a new Sandisk Extreme 3.0 USB flash drive.  I was going to use this to run unRAID from, however after formatting it (fat32) and attempting to run the make_bootable.bat file I'm given an error that says the flash drive is not a removable storage drive.  I looked at "My Computer" and sure enough it is listed under the fixed drives.

After some googling it appears that some newer flash drives are being made Windows 8 compatible... meaning they will show up as fixed drives instead of removable.

Is there a way to make this work or do I need to find an older USB flash drive?

edit the make_bootable file and look for -ma in the command line settings. change '-ma' to '-maf'

f=force. :)
