Errors on Drive

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

Been running my Array with 3 Tb Parity Drive, 2-  2 TB WD Black drives,1-  1 TB Samsung, and Cache drive no problem for a couple of months.  Started getting some errors on one of my drives and wanted to know if this is something I need to start looking into replacing?  (The main array page is showing 11 errors, drive is still in Green though).  If the drive is going bad, does it need replaced with another 2tb drive, or can I replace it with a 3tb drive?

Here is the log -

These values would have me concerned. I would keep an eye on them and if they continue to rise replace the drive ASAP. You could replace the drive with a 3TB because your parity drive is 3 TB.

The parity protection will not work if any drive has pending sectors. The drive must be rebuilt. If you have a spare then use it now and pre-clear the drive with pending sectors. The pending sectors should be zero after the pre-clear and the drive becomes the new spare. If no spare is available then rebuild the drive onto itself: Start the array with the drive un-assigned and then start the array with the drive assigned. The rebuild will begin. After the rebuild the pending sectors should be zero.
