Upgraded to v5.0 seeing multiple network entries in OS X

Featured Replies

Hello,

Since upgrading from 4.7 to 5.0 I am seeing <servername> and <servername>-SMB on my Mac under "network" - one has the BSOD icon and the -SMB shows a rackmount server icon.

Any idea why I am seeing both entries?

yes this is so MAC users can see the server with AFP off, this is intended behaviour as far as i know.

AFP is disabled on my server (never had it enabled on 4.7) - the only network share enabled is SMB.

Still not sure why I see two entries for the server in my network though.

Avahi is always enabled. I forget the reason why, but it corrected a bug discovered in the 5.0rc series. Even if there are no AFP shares, the server is announced via Avahi.
