Seagate 1.5TB not offically supported by Promise SATA300 TX4

Featured Replies

I got word back from Promise's tech support that the new Seagate 1.5TB drives aren't offically supported by the Promise SATA300 TX4 controllers.  Althrough they seem to be working just fine within my rig.  Just food for thought before you make purchasing decisions.

Probably because they did not exist when the Promise controller was developed and tested...  Somehow, I doubt they try every drive on the market with their controllers, but who knows, perhaps they do.  Or, perhaps they have strategic alliances with certain vendors to certify use with their drives.

With all the reports of the drives working, I would not let it stop me from using them with the TX4 controller.

I'm surprised how many vendors are saying "They do not support the Seagate 1.5TB drives"

I wonder when they will !!
