hello,

i've problems with my sas2lp-mv8.

when i connect my drives on the motherboard connector, everything works great

but when i connect my drives tot my sas2lp-mv8 card then some drives (random) get redballed.

it always happen when i do a parity check.

the motherboard i'm using: Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0.

 

i can reenable the drives by start a new config.

 

the smartctl is added.

 

can someone help me pls?

Sounds like a cabling issue.  Try using a different set of cables with the sas2lp-mv8

 

Another possibility is the power -- are you using the same power connectors on the drives regardless of how the data line is connected?

when my parity has been rebuild, i will switch the 2 cables

but it is strange that i can build a parity? the problem only happens with checking the array

 

the powerconnector should be ok, i will check also today or tomorrow

i did a parity-check 2 times now and everything still ok :)

Glad all's okay.  It's surprising how often "failures" are really just cabling or connector issues.  Reseating the drives and/or cables cures a LOT of apparent errors.  [Drives DO fail, of course ... but it's a good idea to always shut down; reseat the drives; reseat the cables; and see if that resolves it => and if not to try a new data cable for any recalcitrant drives.]
