[SOLVED] cache drive dying?

Featured Replies

Started seeing some weird errors today.

I see the error 10B8B could possibly be a drive interface issue, but IDNF according to the wiki is indicative of a drive failure. If i'm looking at this correctly, sdf is my cache drive.

SMART status Info for /dev/sdf
smartctl 5.40 2010-10-16 r3189 [i486-slackware-linux-gnu] (local build)

Smartctl: Device Read Identity Failed (not an ATA/ATAPI device)

A mandatory SMART command failed: exiting. To continue, add one or more '-T permissive' options.

SMART report is also failing.

i have spare sata cables on hand from now on and my first line of defense will be to swap them out as needed. thank you!
