SOLVED: URGENT, Need help fast. Deploying tomorrow and can't access shares

Featured Replies

Hey folks,

Sorry for the urgency, but I leave for Afghanistan tomorrow and I there is a bunch of stuff on my tower that I want to take with me, and I'm stuck.

Here's what happened.  I upgraded to 5.0.  Since then I can no longer access my shares.  I can find my tower and browse to \\Tower and see all my discs, my flash and my shares.  When I try to access any of the shares however I get the following message:

"Movies" is available but the user account that you are logged on with was denied access"  I am logged on as the administrator.

I've got 3 different PC's running Vista, Windows 7 and Windows XP and none of them can access it.  Obviously my shares are set on "Public" and "Export"

I've changed nothing else.  Please help!

If you upgraded from 4.7, did you run the "New Permissions" script ?

Beat me to it!

Did you upgrade from 4.7? I personally was never on 4.7, I started with 5.0RC8, but I've read several places that after an upgrade from 4.7, you need to run the New Permissions util. I'm not 100%, so you may want to wait for advice from someone more experienced, but I believe that is the case.

I don't think so.  How do I do that?

Thanks in advance!

Click on the Utilities tab and select New Permissions. It'll ask you if you are sure and want to proceed. Click yes. A second window should pop up. This window needs to stay open until the entire process completes or it will not finish successfully. When it's done, it will say "done" or something similar at the bottom of the window.
