Looking for a new Parity HDD. After reading numerous posts and being a WD fan, I was looking at this (Available here in NZ). Is this the WD Red being discussed? Is it a good drive? See here...http://www.computerlounge.co.nz/components/componentview.asp?r=p&partid=20406

I currently run all WD Green's and have had a very good run with them. I've had more trouble with SG and they definitely run hotter in my server.

Here is the list of HDD's @4Tb in NZ - http://pricespy.co.nz/category.php?l=s141592292&o=produkt_pris_inkmoms#prodlista

Last thing about Large HDD's = how do I know how big a drive my motherboard can take? It is a Asus P5B-E. Thx

I've got a 3TB red. I can't comment on it being superior or inferior to other drives, I've only had it running as a parity drive for 2 weeks. I've owned it for 3 months, but in that time I've been working on other issues of the server (Best if you didn't ask. )

However, any drive that offers a higher warranty than others? That's the drive I want for my server. I go for warranty over price per GB, over performance, over, well anything.

If the manufacturer is willing to put a longer warranty on a drive? They're gambling that they'll have fewer returns with that drive. AKA they'll have fewer after sale costs on that drive.

HOWEVER.. you want superb warranty support and superb failure rates? Go for the enterprise line, Seagate Constellations, WD XE, WD RE... etc. Yea, horribly expensive. Probably not worth it to save your favorite Fringe episodes on.... Probably....
