WD Black 2TB retail package $129 at Best Buy

Featured Replies

I don't usually even look for drives in Best Buy, but was on my way to Fry's to buy 3 WD 2TB Reds @ $119 each (I know, not a great price). While my wife went into a store next to Best Buy I decided to see what they had in the way of WD drives. Of course, they had all the newer package WD "Performance"  2TB drives for $179. However, in a completely separate area they had some of the older retail packaged Green drives and one lonely Black that didn't even have a info/price tag on the shelf edge. Got a price check - $129. Wow - asked the clerk if they had any more in the back room. There was supposed to be one more in inventory, but she couldn't find it. That model had been discontinued 3 months ago, but the store in Elk Grove (CA) showed 5 on the shelf. Went over there and picked up 3 more. Even there the clerk had a hard time finding them.

If you're interested in the WD Black 2TB retail package WDBAAZ0020HNC-NRSN that contains a WD2002FAEX 64MB Cache you should call your nearest Best Buy and have them check to see if there are any remaining in your area. (If they say, "Yeah, I see one right here in the computer" ask them to confirm it is actually on the shelf or in the back room.)

I'm preclearing three of the drives now.  :)
