upgrade to pro, need help with AD security

Featured Replies

I started out with a free license 5 beta 16, and everything was working great.... I then purchased a pro license, imported the license file etc. I am now attempting to set up the correct SMB permissions using AD users and groups and have run into a few issues. Here is what I have done and tried so far

1. Built existing older hardware into a 3 drive free test version ( 2 new HDDs one couple year old drive)

2. created a test user on Unraid

3. created the desired shares

4. granted user access to those shares through Unraid

5. after everything was working the way I liked, I purchased a Pro license

6. imported license successfully

7. joined unraid to domain

8. modified/verified the shares were all set to SMB sharing

9. did not see any option to set users permissions in the UnRaid console

10. went to the domain controller browsed to the unraid server shares, could see all shares, and the only permissions I saw were 3 unix/linux based permissions or permission groups (sorry I cant see any of my shares now in Windows, and for some reason my Unraid is not accessible via name, but I can get to it through unmenu so I cant verify settings on the server very easily right now)

11. On the first share I removed the 3 unix/linux user/groups permissions and added in the desired AD groups/users and the desired permissions.... I then lost all access to the share

12. I went into a different share and left the unix/linux and added the desired users and perms from the AD side, and I then lost all access to this share also (tried connecting as several different users all had lost access)

13. I then made some change on the UnRaid server last night and now I have lost 100% access to all shares, I cant browse the folders or files at all.

here is the text from the share.cfg file

# Generated settings:

shareUser="e"

shareUserInclude="disk1, disk2"

shareInitialGroup="Domain Users"

shareCacheEnabled="yes"

shareCacheFloor="2000000"

I am also seeing a couple errors/messages in the syslog that make me wonder....

ep 22 15:52:56 Tower avahi-daemon[11974]: Service "Tower-SMB" (/services/smb.service) successfully established.

Sep 22 15:53:21 Tower emhttp: shareSecurity not found

I am wondering 1. if it is possible to do a full reset on all share security, 2. I read one post stating that you had to do AD intergration prior to building/starting your array of it will never work correctly, Is this still correct?? 3. Is it possible to completely start over on my unraid, but keep the data on the drives, well actually add some more drives to the mix too?
