SNAP Plugin updated for unRAID Version 5.0

Recommended Posts

Guys I need some help please. I installed this and installed the ntfs-3g plugin as well

The drive is seen in SNAP and everything (external usb drive).

Basically I need to copy some movies to this external drive and have it copy directly from unraid to drive bypassing the network (I'm accessing it via wifi in the house and it slows everything down and makes me keep the computer on just to transfer the files).

I want to copy directly from the unraid storage drive to the usb connected to it now. But I have no idea how to do that. Can you guys help me out? I don't see any instructions or anything. I was thinking there would be some copy tab in the app but I can't find anything.

Thank you in advance.

Use 'MC' in the unRAID console, or Telnet in and type MC.

"Midnight Commander" is built in to unRAID. It opens up a two window interface into the filesystem, like the old 'Norton Commander' from DOS days.

Firstly thanks for this plugin! This was exactly what I was looking for.

I installed this and the ntfs plugin. Install went fine. I can see SNAP in the settings console and the usb drive in the disks.

It looks mounted too.

However, when I open up the unraid server in windows Explorer, I can see the usb drive but it appears blank. I cannot see

any data on it when there is. How can I solve this? What is wrong?

Post a screenshot of your SNAP page.

Update: I can now see the USB drive and access it. I ran the installpkg scripts again, rebooted, etc.

I can copy some files to the drive now. But when I try to backup my movie collections of .mkv files, the big files don't copy.

Why is there any problem copying large files to the drive? The error message I get in Teracopy is "This request is not supported"

I have attached the screenshot of my SNAP settings page.

The ntfs-3g driver has some limitations on advanced file attributes.  Teracopy is probably trying to use one of the file attributes that is not supported in the ntfs-3g driver.  I'm not sure why it is related to file size.

Would copying via other means make a difference? The files I am trying to copy are all 8-9GB+

If you want to mount a SNAP drive to use with a plugin, add the following to your go file:

/boot/config/plugins/snap/snap.sh -m ShareName

If you want to mount and share a SNAP drive, add the following to your go file:

/boot/config/plugins/snap/snap.sh -ms ShareName

"ShareName" is the share name you have assigned to the drive.

This will mount the SNAP drive before the plugins start.

/boot/config/plugins/snap/snap.sh -ms ShareName

and a 10 second delay in the go script were necessary under 4.7 to get my drive, an internally installed drive, to mount. Unfortunately, it does not seem to be working now that I've updated to 5.0.4.

I just upgraded from 4.7 to 5.0.4 a couple of days ago, and installed SNAP 5.19.  Now, my 320GB drive, hda, won't mount in SNAP. Now, when I reboot the machine, at the console, I get this error:

Partition doesn't exist, cannot be mounted.
ERROR: No such device exists: <drive ID>-part1

The only changes I've made were to shut down the machine, pull the flash drive & make the updates to it required to upgrade to version 5.0.4. No drives were removed from the machine in any way. How has the partition on this ATA drive suddenly disappeared?

All suggestions are certainly welcome!

Be sure the previous version of SNAP has been removed.

I removed the old snap directory & rebooted. It wouldn't mount the disk.

I removed the new snap directory (leaving the .plg file) & rebooted. SNAP is still showing as installed in the plugin list (I'd assume because I still have the line in my go file) and shows the drive. I can double-click to add the share name, but right-click -> mount & share now causes the list to display no drives at all (see attachment). Clicking refresh does cause a page refresh, but it still shows the same lack of info.

I removed the new snap directory, renamed the .plg file & rebooted, SNAP didn't install at boot-time. I renamed the .plg file, manually reinstalled snap (installplg snap.plg), and SNAP was in the settings page. I double-clicked to name the drive, then right-click -> mount & share, and got the same result - no drives showing in the list.

Remove all remnants of the old and new SNAP and be sure nothing is in the go file pertaining to SNAP.  The following will help with the removal of SNAP.

Old SNAP: If you have used SNAP before Version 5.10, be sure to remove the /boot/config/snap directory from your flash drive and the entry in the "go" file that was added by SNAP to start it.  SNAP is no longer started with an entry in the "go" file.  It was an entry that looked like this: /boot/config/snap/snap.sh or /boot/config/plugins/snap.sh.

New SNAP: Remove the /boot/config/plugins/snap directory from your flash drive.  Remove /boot/config/plugins/snap.plg.

Reboot the unRaid server and be sure nothing shows regarding SNAP.  This is to remove all remnants of SNAP in the ram file system.

Install the new SNAP plugin and see if the drives show in SNAP and mount and share a drive to be sure SNAP recognizes it.  If SNAP does not recognize the drive or won't mount it, let me know more about the drive.  Is it USB or ATA?

Gah! All old & new SNAP directories removed. snap.plg removed. Rebooted. Fresh copy of snap.plg downloaded with wget & installed with installplg. SNAP will see it, and let me name it, but still won't mount/share it.

The drive is recognized by SNAP as: MAXTOR_STM3320620A_6QF2TQCG  It's an ATA drive mounted internally, and I'm 99.99% certain it's formatted reiserfs. As a reminder, the old SNAP that I was using was pre-plugin days on unRAID 4.7, if that makes any difference.

You can give the drive a share name and it won't mount?  What shows in SNAP after you mount it?

If it doesn't show, navigate off the SNAP and come back and see if the drives show up.

Clear out the browser cache.

Try a different browser.

here's the before-mount screen shot.

I just realized that it says queegtech.com in the top right corner. I know you based your work off of his, should it say that still, or did you change it?  I may have managed to get the wrong copy somehow, though I did use the link in the OP.

Gotta run - need some power splitters so I can a add a couple of new drives. I'll be back in a couple of hours. Again, I appreciate your help!

Hello All,

Im not fully understanding how to script a backup. SO apologies for asking, but, what I have done is as follows:

Installed SNAP and the NTFS driver.

I have a 1TB external USB drive (NTFS) and its labeled EXTPICBKUP.

When i plug it in, I see it in the SNAP GUI, and I can see it as a "SHARE" via my computer.

I have an unRaid Share called "Pictures"

What I want to do, is have SNAP backup my PICTURES share whenever I plug in this external drive and beep when it starts, and beep again when its done.

im not sure where im supposed to put all these scripts or extactly what im supposed to type.  I know its an rsync command, but not sure of the best way to do all this.

Can anyone provide any hits or guidance?

Many Thanks

I have been using this rsync script by overbyrn to make monthly backups. I haven't tried to get it working from a SNAP event yet. Maybe it will get you started.

So,

Im trying to replicate the script that was posted on the first page on backing up the flash drive to an external drive.

ive placed the code bleow at the bottom of the stock "HotPlugAfterShareEvent.sh" file:

'EXTPICBKUP'
LOGFILE=/var/log/EXTPICBKUP
PROG_NAME=EXTPICBKUP

beep  -l 100 -f 2000 -n -l 150 -f 3000
beep  -l 100 -f 2000 -n -l 150 -f 3000

logger Started -t$PROG_NAME
echo "Started" > $LOGFILE

rsync -a -v -q --delete /boot/ $MOUNTPOINT/ 2>&1 >> $LOGFILE

logger Log File - EXTPICBKUP  -t$PROG_NAME

/boot/config/plugins/snap/snap.sh -MW EXTPICBKUP

logger USB Flash Drive can be removed -t$PROG_NAME
echo "USB Flash Drive can be removed" >> $LOGFILE
beep  -l 100 -f 2000 -n -l 150 -f 3000
beep  -l 100 -f 2000 -n -l 150 -f 3000
beep  -r 5 -l 100 -f 2000

The only thing i have changed is that instead of "FlashBackup" ive called it "EXTPICBKUP"

What I get is an error:

/boot/config/plugins/snap/hotPlugAfterShareEvent.sh: line 82: EXTPICBKUP: command not found

This is really confusing me.  IS there some other setup Im supposed to be doing???

Be sure that your script is in the case statement as I've shown.  You are also missing a ')'.

I don't see anything else.

If it is still happening, show me line 82.

Follow up question:

I want to utilize rsync to copy over only changed files for a share (Picture share) to the external drive.

Would this syntax be appropriate?

rsync -raz --progress /mnt/user/Pictures $MOUNTPOINT/ 2>&1 >> $LOGFILE

Guess this question is for anyone that is an rsync expert.

My goal is to be able to plug my external drive in, and have it back up only the changes to files in my Picture Share so I can then remove the external drive and store in a "safe" location so that my pics are correctly backed up.

Thanks!

Try it and see if it does what you want.
