September 24, 201312 yr Hi guys problem as per subject title, unraid is now asking to format the drive that I wish to allocate to disk 5 slot (but it has data on it hopefully, I only accidentally assigned it as cache disk for a minute). Please advise Nokoff
September 24, 201312 yr When you say it has data on it, do you mean it was previously used as a uNRAID data disk, or that it was used for data outside unRAID?
September 24, 201312 yr Author It was a data disk in my unraid array, disk 5. Then when trying to add a cache drive (and resetting the config in 'utils') I accidentally assigned one of my data drives, disk 5, as the cache drive. When realising i made a mistake i shutdown the computer then tried to re-configure the array properly without a cache drive but it asked me to Format the drive... disk 5. I hope this helps
September 24, 201312 yr It surprises me then that the disk was seen as unformatted! At this point I would be tempted to say that the best way forward is to do a new config and create the array WITHOUT disk5. You can then sort out what the state of disk5 actually is. It should be possibly to manually mount the disk from a telnet/console session to see what state the disk is in? It might also be worth thinking about doing a reiserfsck /dev/sdX1 (where X is the device for disk5) to check that there is no file system corruption. If you can mount the drive you can at least see what is there and if it looks OK pull the data off it.
September 24, 201312 yr UnRAID wants to format the disk because your adding to an existing array. Choose New Config again, but this time get the assignments correct.
September 25, 201312 yr Author i did that but it must have corrupted the file system, as it is unreadable in my windows box with reiser FS installed
