Can anyone recommend a 4-bay external enclosure?

Featured Replies

The title pretty much says it all. Can anyone recommend a 4-bay external enclosure? Even though it's slow, it needs to be USB. This is for a non-unRAID project so I didn't know where else to put this. Thanks in advance.

I just got a 2 port docking station but they do make 4 port docks(a little pricey vs 2 port though)

For enclosures, there are a bunch on newegg(raid and non-raid, usb2/3 and esata, though that requires a multiplier compatible port)

I have two of these.

SANS DIGITAL TR4UTBPN 4Bay USB 3.0 / eSATA Hardware RAID 5 Tower RAID Enclosure

(no eSATA card bundled)

PROS:

  USB 3.0 or eSATA.

It can be JBOD or HW RAID.

Built in PSU, no wall wart or box.

  Drives slide in without trays.

  Small, Portable.

CONS:

  4 drives instead of 5.

if PSU has issues, you will need to do some work to replace it.
