Cant unassign failed disk

Featured Replies

Hi,

One of my drives went down but i cannot remove it from the array. The disk had no data on it so im not bothered about it. When the array is stopped there is no option to unassign the disk. All i get is the option of no drive or the failed drive. Even after running the new config script im left with the same issue apart from my cache drive is unassigned. Am i missing something obvious as a trawl through the forum produced no results.

I removed the drive and connected it up to a windows machine and formated it and it seemed fine. When i put it back into the array it doesn't even detect that it's not formatted.

Running 5.0

Just reassign it and let UnRAID rebuild it.    If that fails, you need to replace the disk (it was disabled for a reason -- but reformatting it and reseating it may have resolved that).

... OR  you can do a "New Config" and only assign the drives you want to the array.    If you do that be CERTAIN that you assign the correct parity and (if you have one) cache drives.    All the data drives can be assigned in whatever order you want.
