2 hard drive crashed

Featured Replies

So I haven't touch my Unraid server for almost 1.5 years nor has it been turned on (was out and about with work). I come back home and find that two of my hard drives crash neither of which was the parity drive. Question is if that data on those drives are lost for good or can I slap two more hard drives in and it will rebuild itself?

Thank you

If 2 drives have failed, you've lost the data on both of those drives.

UnRAID can only rebuild a drive if all other drives are still good.

I would say that it could be possible that some cables may have been bumped inside the case causing a communication problem to the drives.  This would cause unraid to "fail" the drives despite them actually being ok...

Ultimately we need more information to help you better. Please post smart reports of the suspect drives so we can assess their health. Also, what makes you say that these drives are "crashed"? Are they marked with a red ball in the GUI?
