September 28, 201312 yr I've been looking for a deal on a 4TB drive to use for a new parity drive and found the My Book 4TB external drive for $150 with price match as BestBuy. When I got home to crack it open to put in my unraid for pre-clearing I was shocked to see a HGST drive inside. What is going on with that? It's the DK5SAF400. Have any of you seen this before? Is this a ok parity drive?
September 29, 201312 yr It's fine -- WD bought Hitachi, so you'll see a lot of HGST drives in WD products.
September 30, 201312 yr Author Thank you. I missed that acquisition. I installed the drive to replace my 2TB parity drive, pre-cleared it and now its at 88% remaining for parity sync. I started this process at the same time I first started this thread. So far so good. Thanks
