This ICH7 board + dualcore + 2gigmem works well.  I had some USB boot problems but a thread by brainbone resolved it.

    System has been running nonstop for the past week flawlessly after replacing a bad SATA2 cable.

    2port SATAI PCI card

    6xSATA drives + 2xIDE drives
