October 10, 201312 yr My spindown delay for all drives is 30mins i have sickbeard on my 500gb cache drive which checks for new downloads every 60mins after it checks the cache sleeps will the constant spin up/spin down every 30mins eventually kill the drive? or shall i set it to never spin down?
October 10, 201312 yr Modern drives are rated for at least 200,000 spinup cycles. At one every 30 minutes, it would be about 12 years before you'd exceed that number And it sounds like you're actually only doing one cycle every 60 minutes ... so you've got about 24 years before you need to be concerned :)
