October 16, 201312 yr 5.0-rc16c APC addon Email notifications I added a new disk to this server tonight. It was previously in a different server. When I assigned the disk, the page refreshed and the disk appeared as a blue ball. I checked the box next to Start will record the new disk information and bring the expanded array on-line. All new disks which have not been factory-erased will be cleared first; and, the array will be available after the clear completes. This process takes time, but the array remains protected at all times. Caution: any data on the new disk(s) will be erased! If you want to preserve the data on the new disk(s), reset the array configuration and rebuild parity instead. then clicked start. The page refreshed again and nothing happened. The disk still appears as a blue ball. What can I try next? log.txt
October 16, 201312 yr Author Pre-clear the disk using JoeL's pre-clear script; then add it to the array. Regardless of running pre-clear or not, it should be able to be added to the array, shouldn't it?

Yes. What was suggested was a work around for a bug that was supposedly fixed with 5.0rc16c but you may have found a case where it ISN'T fixed - would be my guess.
October 16, 201312 yr Yes, that was a bug in the RC's => I also thought it had been fixed by RC16, but in any event, the bug was that UnRAID wouldn't properly do a clear; but it WOULD add a pre-cleared disk with no problem. Another "fix" would be to simply upgrade to v5.0 => then it should clear with no problem.
October 16, 201312 yr Author Is it known to everyone (but me) that a disk that was previously pre-cleared and being used in another server needs to be cleared again to be added to an RC version of unRAID? I pre-clear my disks in another physical machine, then install and add them to an active server array. Does the final version of unRAID 5 include email notifications yet?
