[SOLVED] Disabled Disk ?

Featured Replies

Hello All,

I am running Version 5.0 and had a Disabled disk. This is the first time this ever happened so I did some research.  I read this but it's from 2010, so I'm not sure if it still applies to 5.0. I also read this which was posted by Joe L.

Here is what I was able to get after I ran the reiserfsck --check

root@Tower:~# reiserfsck --check /dev/md1
reiserfsck 3.6.21 (2009 www.namesys.com)

Now the wiki says:

After running reiserfsck

If you are running UnRAID v5.0-beta8d or later and are in Maintenance mode, you can resume normal operations by stopping the array, then restarting the array with the Maintenance mode check box unchecked.

I did this and the drive is still disabled, does anyone have any suggestions for this old Marine?

dgaschk,

Thanks for the reply, I don't think my syslog would be of any good as I shutdown the pc when I got this msg a few days ago, and just turned it on again but here you go,

Pastebin

system_log.txt

Disk 1 (sdd) has a loose or bad SATA cable. Attach a screenshot of unRAID main.

Thanks again and here you go.

Reattach or replace the SATA cable then attach a new syslog.

I am going to have to shut down the system, will that be alright?

  • Author

Here is the pastebin

I really hope this helps. I unplugged the sata cables and ensured they where refastened.

system_log.txt

The log looks ok. Is the disk still disabled?

  • Author

Yes sir not sure why though if the log is fine.

Once the disk is disabled, you need to rebuild it.  If you're sure it's actually good, you can force it to rebuild onto the same physical disk.

Stop the array; unassign the disk; then Start the array -- it will now show a missing disk.  Stop the array again; assign the disk back to the same slot; then Start the array -- it will now rebuild the disk.

dgaschk and garycase, thank you both for the help, I am starting the rebuild now, but is it normal for the invalid content icon to be on that drive right now that it is rebuilding? I don't want to stop it, I suppose I will let everything finish and report back the end results, but I just wanted to thank you both.

Looks good. Must have been a loose SATA cable.

  • Author

dgaschk Thanks. When I left it was still rebuilding. I'll check the status and if I don't have anymore issues I'll mark this as solved. Thanks again.
