December 22, 200817 yr Is there any script/utility to optimize the file system in unRAID? For example, I have a bunch of movies that I initially moved onto ONE directory on my unraid server. Some of these files are spread across a bunch of drives. Now I've reorganized them more logically. Yet the files are still spread all over the place. Is there a way we can have an "optimize/defrag" function that can run overnight to "reorganize" all these files logically (based on set rules)?
December 22, 200817 yr I posted a really simple script that can help you find the splits which can then be used as a guide for mc. Its somewhere on the forum... if you cant find it let me know.
December 22, 200817 yr Author Thanks nas. Still seems like too much work IMO, esp using MC. After moving around 1Tb of data, it gets tedious. I would be nice to just hit a "File Defrag" button and be done with it.
December 23, 200817 yr Your the first person to ever mention this since i posted the simple script so there is a very slim chance of someone writing a defrag tool unfortunately
