December 23, 200817 yr Okay, so my unraid had been running fine for quite a while. I had to get something from the case (a spare 3.5" to 5.25" adapter bracket- nothing having to do with the configuration or installed hardware.) Anyway, since taking it down and putting it back together and powering back up, I have not been able to see the web interface or telnet in. When I connect the unraid to a monitor on boot, it does load the software from the CF card, and shows a list at the end of the boot sequence of the shares or folders or something, then goes to the login, and root does work. That's how I got the syslog. Ifconifg shows it's taking the same static IP it's always have and I assigned in the config, but I can't get to the web interface. There is also a lot of disk activity light on the restart, like it's doing a parity check or something, but again, no web interface or no shares/drives available on the network. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. Syslog attached.

December 24, 200817 yr Author Unglug/replug/replace the LAN cable... and check the link LED on the hub and NIC. Thanks, nope, I was using a swapped, known good network cable and switch. I did change to another new and tested cable too, just for grins, and no go. Both cables show NIC link LED lights, and in the boot up on-screen, and with ifconfig, show the tower is getting the IP address. PS- the config has 7 drives, including the parity 500GB, three other 500GB, a pair of 250s and one 300. Does anyone know what do these items from the log mean: Dec 22 23:33:33 unraid kernel: unraid: allocated 15222kB Dec 22 23:33:33 unraid kernel: md1: running, size: 488386552 blocks Dec 22 23:33:33 unraid kernel: md2: running, size: 488385496 blocks Dec 22 23:33:33 unraid kernel: md3: running, size: 245117344 blocks Dec 22 23:33:33 unraid kernel: md4: running, size: 293057320 blocks Dec 22 23:33:33 unraid kernel: md5: running, size: 488386552 blocks Dec 22 23:33:33 unraid kernel: md6: running, size: 245117344 blocks Dec 22 23:33:34 unraid kernel: mdcmd (5): check Dec 22 23:33:34 unraid kernel: md: recovery thread got woken up ... December 24, 200817 yr Can you ping it? Can you ping OUT from unRAID? If so, post the output from ps -eaf
December 24, 200817 yr The array seems fine. It appears you did not stop the array when you last rebooted, so 2 transactions are replayed for each drive, and a parity check is started, causing heavy disk activity. No problem otherwise with the array. Your IP is set as a static IP from the network.cfg file, and there is no attempt to use DHCP. The NIC is found and configured correctly, but the following line shows that it does not see a network attached. It looks like the cable is disconnected, or the router is down. ifplugd(eth0)[1488]: Initialization complete, link beat not detected.
December 24, 200817 yr Author Thanks. Odd it was working fine and the cables and router I reused were working. Anyway, I got frustrated yesterday and am replacing the drives anyway with a 1.5TB for permanent storage, so I just started pulling the drives last night and connecting to my PC to copy using YAReG to copy from the ReiserFS disks. Anyway, when I get time I'll put the unraid back together and check the connections again. Thanks.
