October 31, 201312 yr Hi folks - my 500G Cache drive has a multitude of smart errors, so I'm replacing it with a 640G that had previously been in the protected array (the 640 has been replaced with a 2T). I'm pre-clearing the 640G now - once it's cleared, is there any trick to replacing the cache drive, or is it as easy as stopping the array, physically replacing the disk, and restarting the array? Essentially the same process as replacing a data disk? I'll be sure to make sure the cache drive is empty before I do this - I know I'll lose cached data otherwise.
October 31, 201312 yr Yes - it is that easy. Since unRAID will format the cache disk when you add it will initially be empty - but I think you are expecting that.
