November 1, 201312 yr So I just set up my unRAID system and I'm preclearing the first 2 3TB drives. I checked the status at about 36 hours, and it was working on pass 2 of the preclear somewhere in the reading phase. A little later that night, the power flickered just enough to restart the server. I had just enough time this morning to check MyMain and the yellow status information for the drives were gone. I'm assuming that the preclear didn't finish, but I was wondering if it might have saved the results of the first preclear, or if I should go ahead and redo another pass. That'll teach me to forget to switch my UPS from my main rig to the server.

I hope it teaches you to get ANOTHER UPS for your server Look on the flash drive and see if there's a folder name PreClear Logs => not sure if Joe writes/updates that after each pass or not, but if he does, the log file will show if it finished the first pass okay.

Good point. That's definitely in the works along with a M1015 so I can get ESXi up and running. But I got impatient. Go figure. So I ran the test command preclear_disk.sh -t /dev/sdX and it says that both disks ARE precleared, so that's good. Just looked at the report and it looks like both disks finished both passes and are looking good. Thanks!
December 26, 201312 yr My server got unplugged while running the Post read on cycle 3 at after 50% (but before 75%). didn't generate a "finish" report. so i'm safe to just run 1 more cycle, and hope alls well? all the emails i got until now, all showed PASS! so i'm guessing nothing wrong on this drive?
December 26, 201312 yr That's all I've done when I've cancelled it. If your paranoid you could rerun the whole thing but if you take a smart report before you start your preclear again and it looks OK I don't think you will encounter a problem if you only run a single cycle to finish it up.
