No Network Connection - House Move

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Been going crazy for hours trying to resolve!

Moved into new house. Also using a new modem. Connected everything back up.

Can confirm internet/modem/router are functioning perfectly with network and connection to internet provider.

Modem goes to main Switch port. Switch connects to Wireless Router. unRAID server connects to Switch.

Powered up server and cannot get connection to my network or to the internet. I keep getting a '169.XXX.X.XXX' IP address.

Router is set up as DHCP server.  Router is 192.168.1.1 with range of 100 to 149.

I then tried to set up with a static IP address as 192.168.1.150 - still no luck!

Latest syslog is attached.

The 169 address is self assigned by the unraid system, this means there is no network connectivity.

Get a big cable, plug it in a port on your router, hang a laptop or pc on it, boot and confirm you get an ip address, if that works , remove the cable from the laptop/pc and put it in your unraid system, reboot it.

If it works : check your current cabling

If it does not work: check the backside of your unraid system, is there only one network port ? Or are there more, if there are more, try another one..
