Intel Haswell power saving features supported by unRaid?

Featured Replies

Hi there,

i just upgraded my old unRaid server to an Intel Haswell System (Pentium G3220 on Gigybyte Board) in order to save power and to get a little bit more performance.

According to some internet resources it should be possible to hit under 20W (all disks spun down etc).

Now my unRaid Server uses 35W, idle all disks spun down, which are already 20W less than my old server but miles away from what is possible.

That leads me to the question if all the new power saving features of the new Haswell CPU's are already supperted by unRaids 3.9.6 Kernel?

I honestly don't know if they are supported but I chuckled a little bit when I saw your 35W mark.  My server "idles" at about 115W.  Granted mine is an ESXi server so there are other things going on with it but I still found it funny.

115W all disk spun down and idle? Mine is nearly only a pure Mediaserver for my HTPC, apart from beeing an PXE Server from time to time.
