November 6, 201312 yr Hi everyone, I just bought a ARECA 1882i as an upgrade from a Adaptec 2805. The problem is that the Areca wont boot  with my exisitng board which is a micro ATX (model MSI Z77MA-G45). I thought that the Areca had the less incompatibilities but then again it seems i was wrong. I've tried messing with the bios upgrading it to a later version but with no success. I've emailed Areca support as well but the didn't have anything to propose on a micro atx consumer board solution. So unfortunately i ll have to buy another motherboard and i was wondering if any of you had tried a micro atx (due to case size) consumer board s1155 with this controller so i won't run into anymore incompatibilities. It would definitely be better to combine the controller with a server board such as Supermicro or Asus but then again i would have to buy the appropriate cpu and ram and i'd like to avoid that cause i don't have the money to spend right now. Anxiously awaiting for your opinions/suggestions. Thnx
November 6, 201312 yr You had the money for an 1882, but not the money to spend on a decent motherboard? What exactly is your goal?
November 6, 201312 yr Author What exactly is your goal? Meaning?? And what would a descent board be on your opinion?
November 6, 201312 yr Author I do apologize i didn't quite get what you meant to begin with. To be honest i'm not using Unraid at the moment but windows 2008 r2 enterprise. I'm well aware that this is the Unraid community but i'm asking just a hardware question which doesn't involve any OS.Sorry about that. Thnx again
November 6, 201312 yr I have encountered SAS controllers which will only work in workstation class motherboards. The one that comes to mind was an HP brand but perhaps your card does the same detection.
