Server GUI Constantly 'Hanging" often.

Featured Replies

Hi guys, first of all let me say that I am absolutely in love with unRAID, I've been running it since February without issues, I installed and configured it without issue, and left it running as a media server, the only issue i had was with Mylar, which I never got working.

Months later I've installed a Control panel, and installed a few plugins, Mylar being one of them. I actually got it working this time (with the exception of it moving comics to the correct directory) However, my unRAID box GUI crashes almost all the time.

I can log in to mediabox:8080 (unmenu) 8081 (sab) all the way up to up to Mylar, which does not load as well.

I've got a 2.8 quad core processor with 4 gigs ram, 4 3tb drives and a 128gig SSD as the cache (I actually am going to remove that, an pop in a 1tb drive) I've loaded simplemenu as the graphical overhaul for the regular interface, I've tried stopping the ehttp service via telnet, but it does nothing.

I've googled for the answer and (gasp!) tried using my brain, but I'm at a loss, I've attached my syslog, if anyone can please point me in the right direction, I would really appreciate it!

I just realized the redundant thread title is redundant.  :(

Can't look at your syslog because I'm on an iPad at work at the moment, but it sounds like you are running into a problem a lot of users with 4GB of RAM and lots of plugins run into. Namely that as you run out of RAM Linux by default kills the process which has been idle the longest, which usually happens to be emhttp (unRaid web GUI).

Here's one of the threads dealing with this issue: http://lime-technology.com/forum/index.php?topic=22971.0

IMHO if you plan to run lots of plugins you really should look at having at least 8GB of RAM.
