Server won't boot, please help

Featured Replies

My test server with a SM X7SPA-F and Seasonic M12 II has been running fine for 6 months. This morning it refused to boot.

After switching on the PSU fan and case fans start and keep running but I don't the unraid USB stick being accessed. The IPMI heartbeat blinks. in IPMI the KVM console shows no video and under sensors I see o volts on all voltages. Did the PSU die, Please advise in further troubleshooting.

It is the more likely problem and easier to test if you have another PSU or if you can cannibalize another PC to use a KNOWN good one anyway.

There is another possible cause.  Your MB could have gone bad.  The symptoms you describe are the same I got when I bricked my X9SCM-F MB when I tried to downgrade the bios to 1.0c from the 2.0a I had just installed.  So unless you tried to flash a bios like I did I would think the power supply would be a more likely cause.  But before buying you can test that theory out by using another compatible PSU (assuming you have one but the one you are using with your X9SCM-F MB should work if you want to substitute that temporarily to test).

Thanks for the tip. I never flashed this boards BIOS, so I will swap PSUs this evening.
