I have seen this message in my syslog for some time:

 

Nov 22 15:35:11 unRAID kernel: piix4_smbus 0000:00:01.3: SMBus base address uninitialized - upgrade BIOS or use force_addr=0xaddr

 

Is it of any concern?  Do/Should I enable something in the BIOS?

Check for a BIOS update.

Hah...I thought I had upgraded my BIOS some time ago but I guess I didn't.  It is now upgraded and this is what I now see in the syslog:

 

Nov 24 11:21:23 unRAID kernel: piix4_smbus 0000:00:07.3: Host SMBus controller not enabled!

 

I found quite a few threads in which they basically say that VMs do not have an SMBus so no worries.  If you don't want to see the error, then blacklist the module.
