Virtualizing unRAID in KVM

Featured Replies

unRAID has made it clear to me and others that it does not support this effort. Therefore, I will no longer be investing my time with documentation or supporting it.

ddeeds, do you have any idea if kvm has better support for the ibm m1010 than xen does ?

Proxmox VE is Debian (Linux) and uses KVM as a Hypervisor. Go take a look in their forums and see if people can do it there.

KVM is all built into the Linux Kernel. Since Debian is still running an old Linux Kernel...

Poxmox is even running a much minor version as this is the Redhat kernel...lots of backports but still 2.6.

However, passthrough of the m1015 on vt-d capable hardware worked without problems for me.

Did you mean m1015?

To answer your question, I do not know.

KVM is all built into the Linux Kernel. Since Debian is still running an old Linux Kernel... If it works in that, I suspect it will work (perhaps even better) in later Linux Kernels too. I'd google and see what other people have experienced with it. You don't need to be Linux Distro specific since they all use the same kernel / KVM code.

thanks! yes, i meant m1015.

that's good to hear, i will then revisit my idea to switch from esxi to xen/kvm .. depending on how this thread moves forward :)

Hi ddeeds,

I'm following your other threads and you seem to prefer arch linx and centos.

May I ask why you decided to go with open suse?

Also,  what's your opinion or archipel?

For the record, this is absolutely not true.

If Limetech is OK with this project then is it possible to have an open discussion about any outstanding concerns to see if the effort can continue?

I don't believe there are any outstanding concerns - Tom (Limetech) just wants a list of flags to add to the kernel.  Anything else is just other users' opinion.

And that they be emailed to him so that he doesn't miss them for next release
