November 25, 201312 yr From what I can tell it is not possible to set a spin down "window" within unRAID. I would like to have my drives spun up during normal usage hours; say 8 AM - 11:59 PM and then spun down from 12 AM - 7:59 AM and spin back up for usage. There should be an automatic override which would fall back to the current spin down delay if the drives are in use during the spin down window. I think this would achieve the best of both worlds - no TM issues during normal usage hours, no delay when trying to stream media from the box, access the shares, etc., but would allow you to achieve power savings while the box is not being used overnight.
November 25, 201312 yr You could set a Cron job to run every day and automatically modify the disk.cfg file and change the spindown value at 12AM and again at 8AM. There may be an additional action required to ensure UnRAID "pays attention" to the revised setting. Hopefully one of the Linux gurus can comment on that.
