Coming back to unRaid

Featured Replies

so i used to use unraid sometime ago. coming back to again and looking at new build. Wondering a couple of things.

#1 - CPU Power, this machine is just for data. Whats the best cpu atm to get for this

#2 - Network, cause ill have more than 4-5 people accessing the server, can i use my dual intel gigbit lan card in teaming mode?

#3 - whats the best rules for building a new rig? are there basic guides to start from?

#1 any, really, they all work and things like haswell idle down so low. Your pick atom, i3, pentium

#2 yes, you can configure bonding, but each stream will be limited to a single adapter, and the balance is very rough. But 1Gbe/6 people is 166Mb/s

#3 figure how big you want to start and growth plans. With 4TB drives you can go 80TB, or small and handy like a NL40.

#2, you need a compatible switch as well. generally these are "smart" switches. Some routers have this ability as well.
