November 28, 201312 yr I had a power outage overnight. This morning when I attempted to reboot my Unraid server, it gets stuck repeating the message: "waiting for USB subsystem" Any ideas on how to correct this?
November 28, 201312 yr Power off completely (unplug the unit) ... wait a few minutes; then try it again. Your USB controller may have been "fried" in the outage. Is your system on a UPS? That's by far the most important accessory to an UnRAID server, as it completely eliminates improper shutdowns, power spikes, etc. => makes for a FAR more reliable system.
November 28, 201312 yr Author Thanks, I'll give that a try when I get home. No my system is't on a UPS. I really don't need 100% up time, but if it protects the system I'll get one. I do have a surge protector behind it (a decent one, not one of those little power strip thingys).
November 28, 201312 yr ... if it protects the system I'll get one. Nothing protects it better. Be sure to get a reasonable quality unit with AVR. That will provide FAR better surge protection than "surge protectors"; and will ensure the system isn't exposed to brown-outs, power-spikes; or unscheduled outages.
November 30, 201312 yr Author Well recycling the power was all that was needed. Funny this is the first thing I tell people to do. Thanks for the help everyone.
