November 29, 201312 yr I'm looking to put a second server together and looking for the perfect case (for me). It seems like all of the listed case with more than 6 5.25 external slots are no longer available except the Zalman MS800. I'd like to find a smaller case, maybe around 18 inches deep, so I was in my studio looking at my CD/DVD duplicator which has 8 slots all external for CD/DVD drives and started thinking. Did a Google search and lead me to amazon and found these: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_pg_1?rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Aduplicator+case&keywords=duplicator+case&ie=UTF8&qid=1385687047 Some have controller cards some don't. Any thoughts? The one I have here has a MB inside just like a computer case.
November 29, 201312 yr I think this would make an appropriate HDD preclearing machine: http://amzn.com/B00GA289I2
November 29, 201312 yr Author Didn't see thatt one... Here's a link to one of the companies case page. http://www.bestduplicator.com/duplicator-cases-c198.html Not a lot of info so I guess I would have to contact the company. The case/duplicator I have here is built really well. I probably should have kept the previous one I had instead of selling it but that was before my first server. It had 10 bays in it.
November 30, 201312 yr my concern, just based on the photos, is the duplicator cases don't look deep enough to hold a motherboard. (CD/DVD duplicators commonly use a controller that slots into a 5.25" bay)
November 30, 201312 yr Author I know a few of them are 20" (too deep for me) and the one I have is 18" (perfect). They really don't publish enough info on them and yes one of the bays is for a controller so a 7 bay duplicator is actually 8 bays without the controller. I have a 7 with a controller panel and in mine there is a MB also.. I guess when mine dies I'll have a nice case.. I wish I could track down the company that made it.
