November 30, 201312 yr Hi guys, I have unRaid 4.7 running, and an APC UPS with USB attached to the system. When I initially had set it all up it seemed to work as it should, but recently I found that the scripts don't seem to be working as they should... Yesterday the power went out, and this morning when I turned the server back on, I saw that it started a parity check, meaning it was not cleanly shutdown What can I check/verify to determine if it's a configuration issue or something else? (I don't know if maybe it's also that I never updated unmenu, or apackage or something? I have: unmenu.awk: Version 1.3 Revision: 214 Joe L.... with modifications as suggested by bjp999 and many others and I have the apcupsd package and the cleanpowerdown package as well installed: apcupsd-3.14-.3 powerdown-1.02 In the System Info / UPS Status section, I do see al the info, where the server/plugin seems to be communicating just fine with the UPS: ------------------------------------------ (from /sbin/apcaccess status)APC : 001,044,1084 DATE : Sat Nov 30 14:22:28 ARST 2013 HOSTNAME : Tower RELEASE : 3.14.3 VERSION : 3.14.3 (20 January 2008) slackware UPSNAME : Tower CABLE : Custom Cable Smart MODEL : Back-UPS RS 500 UPSMODE : Stand Alone STARTTIME: Sat Nov 30 13:36:35 ARST 2013 STATUS : ONLINE LINEV : 220.0 Volts LOADPCT : 32.0 Percent Load Capacity BCHARGE : 024.0 Percent TIMELEFT : 5.7 Minutes MBATTCHG : 5 Percent MINTIMEL : 3 Minutes MAXTIME : 0 Seconds OUTPUTV : 230.0 Volts SENSE : Low DWAKE : 000 Seconds DSHUTD : 000 Seconds LOTRANS : 190.0 Volts HITRANS : 254.0 Volts RETPCT : 000.0 Percent ITEMP : 29.2 C Internal ALARMDEL : Always BATTV : 12.3 Volts LINEFREQ : 50.0 Hz LASTXFER : No transfers since turnon NUMXFERS : 0 TONBATT : 0 seconds CUMONBATT: 0 seconds XOFFBATT : N/A SELFTEST : NO STATFLAG : 0x07000008 Status Flag SERIALNO : NB0638022223 BATTDATE : 2006-09-16 NOMOUTV : 2300 Volts NOMINV : 230 Volts NOMBATTV : 12.0 Volts NOMPOWER : 300 Watts FIRMWARE : 30.j5.I USB FW:j5 APCMODEL : Back-UPS RS 500 END APC : Sat Nov 30 14:23:13 ARST 2013 --------------------------------------------------- I tried to look in syslog, but is seems to only have info for today? December 2, 201312 yr Try running a self test on the UPS. Sorry don't know how to do that from Linux/unRAID. I would have to plug it into a Windows box and use the Windows software to run the self test. If it fails it will likely tell you why. It could be the battery of the UPS needs replacing. I found out the hard way that a UPS I had needed the battery replaced when it didn't shut down the computer correctly during a power outage myself. And based on above the battery date shows 2006 which is quite a while ago if accurate. But all this is purely a guess and someone more knowledgeable may come along with a better suggestion.
December 2, 201312 yr Also make sure the powerdown script still works and powers down your server. Otherwise the server will hang until the ups runs out of battery power.
