Plex plays wrong title

Featured Replies

I have the latest Plex v0.9.8.10.215 installed on my Unraid v5.0 server, on some some bluray titles plex will not play the main movie,

it will play one of the preview files instead, this same location will play fine with XBMC.

I tried ripping the bluray to a windows box and got the same result, plex will play some bluray's fine but not all.

This is a straight rip of the bluray to disk.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

You will likely have better luck getting an answer on the Plex support forums.

Thanks, I will try there.

At the PLEX website read up on naming conventions:

http://wiki.plexapp.com/index.php/Media_Naming_and_Organization_Guide

and on the Plex Media Server controls  for fixing database errors..

They are described especially in the Wiki at:

http://wiki.plexapp.com/index.php/PlexNine_PMS_MediaManager#Manually_Refreshing_Sections

I find that when I rip my movies, it helps to keep the fresh rip on my local PC until its correct. i do *not* rip directly to unRAID.

(my Plex Media Server is always running on my unRAID box...when the rip of a full DVD starts, the PMS immediately tries to match it to its media databases...so for example a 'preview' can get coded as the main feature, before the main feature is even done being ripped.)

Once a bad match occurs, I find it clumsy and difficult to unwind the matching error using the Plex tools.

A couple of times, I've found myself cleaning up my files, folders and filenames, then trashing the existing PMS metadata database and just rebuild it from scratch. :(
