December 1, 201312 yr It's not the best machine but it appears that when I'm rsyncing files down to the server I can't play media. The load is around 6 right now and it's not cpu or memory. Any thoughts? When transferring from the array (which has a cache drive) to another dir on the cache drive I only get around 4MB/s. Also, I think since I'm connecting with a mac it's using samba, is that the best option to connect with?
December 1, 201312 yr Author Rebooted, load was low. Copied a file on the cache drive to a new location on the cache drive and load is at 1.5 and it's taking a while. Seems odd, does it go through the array even on the cache drive?
December 6, 201312 yr Author It appears if I'm running rsync things become unplayable even if rsync is only going at ~8kB/s. Cpu(s): 0.5%us, 1.7%sy, 0.0%ni, 96.9%id, 0.7%wa, 0.0%hi, 0.3%si, 0.0%st That id% is really high when something is play too. Log shows nothing other than the drives being spun down.
