December 1, 201312 yr Hello all, After going through the forums and researching what the rest of you are doing I decided to take advantage of the sales this weekend and purchased a cache drive for my unraid box. I am also interested in setting up plex and after reading the forums I came across some step-by-step instructions on how to do this. After installing the drive, formatting, etc. I am now at the point where I need to create a "cache only" share. I have tried multiple permutations of the settings after reading the manual and the forums and I am at a loss here. I am running version 5.0.3 and here is the log output when I try to create said share: Dec 1 09:20:58 unRAID emhttp: shcmd (103): mkdir '/mnt/user/apps' Dec 1 09:20:58 unRAID shfs/user: shfs_mkdir: assign_disk: apps (28) No space left on device Dec 1 09:20:58 unRAID emhttp: _shcmd: shcmd (103): exit status: 1 Dec 1 09:20:58 unRAID emhttp: shcmd (104): rm '/boot/config/shares/apps.cfg' Dec 1 09:20:58 unRAID emhttp: shcmd (105): :>/etc/samba/smb-shares.conf Dec 1 09:20:58 unRAID avahi-daemon[1314]: Files changed, reloading. Dec 1 09:20:58 unRAID emhttp: shcmd (106): killall -HUP smbd Dec 1 09:20:58 unRAID emhttp: shcmd (107): cp /etc/avahi/services/smb.service- /etc/avahi/services/smb.service Dec 1 09:20:58 unRAID avahi-daemon[1314]: Files changed, reloading. Dec 1 09:20:58 unRAID avahi-daemon[1314]: Service group file /services/smb.service changed, reloading. Dec 1 09:20:58 unRAID emhttp: shcmd (108): ps axc | grep -q rpc.mountd Dec 1 09:20:58 unRAID emhttp: _shcmd: shcmd (108): exit status: 1 Dec 1 09:20:58 unRAID emhttp: shcmd (109): /usr/local/sbin/emhttp_event svcs_restarted Dec 1 09:20:58 unRAID emhttp_event: svcs_restarted Dec 1 09:20:59 unRAID avahi-daemon[1314]: Service "unRAID" (/services/smb.service) successfully established. It appears that the logs are saying that the newly added cache drive does not have any free space but the report on the main screen says it is almost completely free. (64GB SSD, 62.99GB free). I can't for the life of me figure this out. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for the help!
December 7, 201312 yr did you try mkdir /mnt/user/cache/apps or /mnt/cache/apps? then after set share to cache drive only...
December 7, 201312 yr Have you tried rebooting or stopping and starting the array since adding the disk? Did you try creating it without using the cache only setting just to test. Did you set any of your other shares to use the cache drive and try copying files to them to see if the files get placed onto the cache disk properly? Then, check they are moved to the array once the mover is run? You can kick off the mover manually in the share settings.
December 8, 201312 yr Author So, after upgrading and looking a little deeper I was able to get this to work. This time I set a min. space of 1000. This worked although not sure why as I have not needed to set it before. Thanks all for the help!
