Can I use these steps to install mySQL?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I would like to install mySQL on my unRAID v4.4-only machine. I found a web site with a step by step instruction setup for Slackware 12.0. Because I'm not really familar with Linux I would like to ask the specialists if the steps mentioned there sound reasonable:

Many thanks in advance

I did not not try it, but it looks reasonable.

Do remember, since unRAID's file-system is in RAM, it might not have the space needed for the install, or for a large database.  Also, all the steps given will need to be done each time you reboot, as the entire RAM filesystem is re-created every time you reboot with the lime-technology supplied minimal content.

If it uses a lot of RAM you will need to define a swap file or partition, or risk running out of memory.

JoeL,

thanks for your answer.

Hmm, seems that I need to wait for BubbaRAID for 4.4.

Thanks

Harald
