Question about unraid 4.4 on full slackware install

Featured Replies

Hey Guys,

My hardware finally arrived, so I can start playing !

I want to install unraid 4.4on a full slackware install, but which version do I need to use ?

This link says slack 12.2, whereas in the original announcement says 12.1.

So, which one is it :-)

Greets,

Deva

The current version looks to be 12.1, but the kernel is then upgraded to 2.6.27.7.  2.6.27.7 is the standard kernel for 12.2.  I would bet that is why the wiki says 12.2 for 4.4, but that would be wrong.

I would recommend that you get unRAID working with the standard distro first.

Create your array, copy over a bunch of data, and run a couple of parity checks.

Once you are confident that the array is working properly with your hardware, take a look at BubbaRAID.

Before switching over take a close look at your syslog and make sure you understand any anomolies.

As the instruction sin the wiki for putting unRAID on a full Slackware distro state, first get it working on stock unRAID booting from flash.

Then take good notes and print out HW info, like your syslog, losf, lspci, lsmod, and the devices page from unRAID.  That info will be valuable to you in later steps when you have to select your disk drivers in the kernel config.
