unraid server wont show up on network

Featured Replies

Like subject says...all my PCs are on workgroup. Unraid is on workgroup as well but won't show up on windows network list unless I manually type in \\tower. Is there something I am missing to make it show up without having to type it in manually all the time?

if you are talking about the shares it could be that you may have to check your samba settings for your shares to ensure that they are enabled and not hidden.. if you are talking about the web gui it sounds like it may be a DNS resolver issue, on the network settings page try changing some of the DNS settings auto vs manually...

I am referring to the shares. The web gui loads up fine. When I type in \\tower, the shares show up fine. It's just a pita to have to do it manually all the time. I did manage to find a setting in unraid SMB to enable local master. Hopefully does the trick.

Ok, just check the SMB Security Settings under each share to ensure that they are set to Export: Yes / Security: Public

Yup...I checked that first...they were all set that way.

are you using AFP or NFS Shares?

There was a case where capitalization of the Windows workgroup was causing this issue. One machine was configured with "WORKGROUP" and another with "Workgroup". Is the spelling and capitalization the same on all computers?

I find it best to either use all CAPS or all lowercase

i was having this problem , I rebooted the router and it starting showing up in explorer again.
