Heavy Reads/Writes to a specific disk (normal?)

Just curious if a heavy amount of Reads/Writes to a specific drive in an array with 14 disks + parity (no cache drive) are considered normal?

 

I just replaced the drive in question (Hitachi 2TB after it redballed).  I replaced it with a WD Red 3TB...but I am already noticing high read/write activity to the new drive.

 

I have attached my Syslog and a screenshot....check out Disk 12.
