December 18, 201312 yr I setup my first share last night (TV) and started to copy 1.2TB worth of TV shows over to the share. The share is set to use the cache drive which is the same drive as my array drives (WD Red 3TB). However it's been over 10 hours now since the copy was initiated and I'm just over 50% done. Right now it's writing at 3MB/s and I've seen even slower. Sometimes it does jump up to 70-80MB/s for short bursts but that's it. When I started copying files last night it was going at a good clip (90+ MB/s). Why would it be copying at such as slow rate to the cache drive? *Just as a side note I use TeraCopy to copy files between drives/shares.

December 19, 201312 yr Author Ok so my mover process is not running and yet copying just two seasons of a TV show (8.63GB total) I'm getting a constant speed of 45MB/s. Shouldn't this be at least double? What's my issue? Are there any tests I can run to determine what could be my bottleneck? Edit: Certain files I get 85-90MB/s and others I get very slow speeds of 25-45MB/s. The speeds dont' jump around during the copy either it stays constant until that whole series is copied over. Why the discrepancy? Would file type differences (avi vs. mkv) matter?
December 19, 201312 yr Many small files will write slower than a large file. Jpg, nfo etc will write at a slower mb/s than say a mkv. Could be what you're Seeing. 45 mb/s seems good to me.
