unRAID setup for Plex

Featured Replies

Does anyone here know how to add the folders stored on my unRAID server to PMS?  I have Plex Server on my main HTPC and have moved all media over to my new unRAID server.  I however can not figure out how to get PMS to add the folders from my unRAID server.  I know when I used to use XMBC there was an option to brose SMB which you could see all the computers on the network that where shared and add those folders to your media library catalog on XBMC.  Any help would be much appreciated!!

Thanks,

What OS is your HTPC running?

When running Plex server off the unraid box itself you can just use the web interface to add libraries.

Not sure if that's available with your setup.

never mind, misread

I'm not running PMS off the unRAID server.  I'm running it off my HTPC.

\\servername\sharename should do it.  e.g. \\tower\movies

Where does this get entered, Window explorer or in Plex when attempting to add a folder?  I'm assuming the share name is the drive disk?  My unRAID server is named "UNRAID" so \\UNRAID\disk1?

I think I figured it out, Your talking about network drive mapping.  I see how they are added now regarding your short path.  I'll keep plugging along here.  Do appreciate it.

It gets entered in the Plex webGUI:

http://server:32400/web

Replace server with either the IP address or hostname of your HTPC.

The share name would be the name of whatever share you created in unRaid.

Close enough.  I'm not talking about mapping the drives to Windows, but simply accessing them via network.  In Windows network shares are accessed via \\server\share.

You could also permanently map the network shares to Windows and then point Plex to the drive letters you assigned.

Yes, That's what I did.  Stumbled on it by mistake basically.  I mapped all the drives to Windows, Now Plex is seeing them and cataloging my media currently.  Again, Appreciate the help!

No problem!

Why map drives? Aren't they all in shares? Something like \\server\\sharename ? That way you can scan multiple disks together...
