Moving an existing unRAID to new hardware

Featured Replies

Hi,

I want to move my current unRAID to new hardware - already confirmed  that the HW works with unRAID. Is there anything I have to worry about / keep in mind before doing this? Or is it really just about taking the HDDs out of the old machine and plug them into the new one?

It's indeed as simple as just moving the disks and booting to the same flashdrive on the new machine, as long as you're running v5 of UnRAID.

If you've running the older v4.7 (or earlier), then you'll need to be sure you know what positions each of the disks are in, and likely need to redo the disk assignments to put them in the correct slots.  [Whether this will be necessary or not depends on just where they're enumerated when the system boots]
