Does onboard video get turned off if you plug a non-video card into the PCI x16 slot?

 

I have the P5B VM DO and am planning on replacing my PCI SATA controller card with another Adaptec 1430SA.

 

Will I lose onboard video?

    By all accounts it should not. I've had asus video boards with both and not had issues.

    Usually onboard video is disabled by a jumper or a bios option.

    I'd think you are OK. I'm pretty sure the PCIe x16 slot or onboard has been eliminated from all the newer chipsets for a few generations now.
